Met Stacy and Chris Fields (yes, that’s really their last name!), owners and operators. Both North Carolina natives; Chris is from Wilmington and Stacy was raised in the small town of Crumpler, northeast of Jefferson.
"We fell in love with Henderson County and really have put our roots down. Growing raspberries are a challenging and rewarding endeavor. We love getting to know our customers."
Both Chris and Stacy have careers in the construction industry. It is demanding work and contributes in different ways. Looking for an alternative adventure, the Fields were called to the land.
Farming isn't easier but it is different. A different type of satisfaction.
In 2016, the 10 ½ acre farm in Good Luck, N.C. was acquired, and
Raspberry Fields was born!
With help from the kids, the land was prepared and an irrigation system was installed spring 2017. The planting took two full days . Family and friends came and helped hand-plant every single root. Two days in the dirt and they were off and running.
First harvest began on the 4th of July, 2017.
Chris and Stacy are the parents of four children — Ashley (Abel), Jacob, Lydia, and David and grandparents of Stella and Niam.
Jacob and Lydia are a tremendous help, working on the farm and at local Farmers Markets. They have been an integral part of the farm since day one.
"We believe that God has a plan for everyone, and we try to live our lives in a way that honors Him. We hold fast to the promise of Isaiah 40:31: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
Raspberry Fields has grown faster than ever expected, and the Fields family has loved every minute of it. Well, almost every minute.
Bringing delight to customers and
community partners makes it all worthwhile.
Autumn Bliss raspberries, which are known for their bright red color and delicious flavor, are grown on the farm. Harvest time typically runs July through September. Sustainable farming practices are used because how something has grown is just as important as the end product.
Future plans for the farm include opening an event space and building vacation cabins, so stay tuned — there’s so much more we want to share with you!
