We’re Stacy and Chris Fields (yes, that’s really our last name!), owners and operators. We’re both North Carolina natives; Chris is from Wilmington and Stacy was raised in the small town of Crumpler, northeast of Jefferson.
We both grew up loving the land. Each of us came from families who not only had large gardens that fed the families, but Stacy’s grandparents also grew tobacco, hay, and Christmas trees. Most importantly, both of Stacy’s grandmothers grew raspberries.
Working in the construction industry, life can be demanding. Looking for a new endeavor we began brainstorming about alternative adventures. With agricultural backgrounds,
the natural choice was farming.
Farming isn't easier but it is different. A different type of satisfaction.
In 2016, we purchased 10 ½ acres of land in Good Luck, N.C., and Raspberry Fields was born!
It was hard but rewarding work getting started. With help from the kids, we prepared the land and installed an irrigation system in spring 2017. The planting took two full days . Family and friends came and helped hand-plant every single root. It wasn’t easy spending two days on hands and knees, but it was worth it.
First harvest began on the 4th of July, 2017.
We’re the parents of four children — Ashley (Abel), Jacob, Lydia, and David and grandparents of Stella and Niam.
Jacob and Lydia are a tremendous help, working alongside us on the farm and at local Farmers Markets. They have been an integral part of the farm since day one.
We believe that God has a plan for everyone, and we try to live our lives in a way that honors Him. We hold fast to the promise of Isaiah 40:31: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
Raspberry Fields has grown faster than we ever expected, and we have loved every minute of it. We enjoy bringing delight to all our customers and community partners.
We grow Autumn Bliss raspberries, which are known for their bright red color and delicious flavor. Harvest time typically runs July through September. We use sustainable farming practices because it’s our goal to make the land and surroundings better by what we do. We are not certified organic. (Farmers must meet certain federal standards to get organic certification.)
Our future plans for the farm include opening an event space and building vacation cabins, so stay tuned — there’s so much more we want to share with you!
